PhotoPoetry
In April, photography students embraced National Poetry Month with a PhotoPoetry assignment.
Learning to See
As we walk through life, we look around us but don’t really see what is beyond the surface—we tend to look straight ahead of us, down at our feet, or our phones. Photography is about seeing what others miss.
Painting With Light
The definition of the word photography is drawing with light. This quarter, students in Photo 2 and Photo Portfolio, did just that, draw with light.
Color and Motion
To start out the new year, and a new semester, Photography 2 is experimenting with combining art ands cience to create beautiful photographs!
Photo Fundamentals
It is no easy feat to load a roll of film, that can very easily slip through your fingers, onto a reel in pitch-black darkness!
Color theory
CMYK, RGB, Additive, Subtractive, Primary, Secondary, Tertiary…what does it all mean???
Well at the base level these terms all refer to categories of color.
But isn't all color the same? Blue is blue and red is red, right?
Brainstorming
One of the first things we do when starting a new project, be it a writing a report for GBDA 102 or developing the next Angry Birds app, and whether we're working on our own or in a team, is to start laying out all of the pieces of the project puzzle. We know the final objective we want to work toward, but now we have to figure out all of the steps to get us there. This is where brainstorming comes into play.
Aspect ratio
When using a smart phone, a point-and-shoot camera, or even sometimes with a DSLR, people don't really tend to put much thought into what aspect ratio they are using. They think about exposure, lighting, focal length, and even special effects, but not so much about aspect ratio - it just isn't something that first comes to mind when setting up a shot.
